We posted last month about attending bee school with my Dad and how we hoped some day to have our own bees. It’s with a very heavy heart that I’d like to report we now have two hives. After picking up his bees last Saturday, my Dad passed away suddenly on Monday. We were told the bees needed a home.
Having no equipment, I called Larry Stone from the Audubon Beekeepers Association and explained our situation. Mr. Stone very graciously drove up from Madisonville, loaning us his equipment and installing the bees. We can’t thank him enough for his kindness.
Although we never expected to get bees this way, we’re going to make the best of the situation. My Dad was a great man. We hope to honor his memory by continuing his beekeeping.
